Cult film icon Lynn Lowry will play the title role in Blair’s mystery/drama about a woman who’s disappeared, the search and the secrets that are revealed

WEST HOLLYWOOD, CA, UNITED STATES, May 31, 2023/EINPresswire.com/ — Cult film icon Lynn Lowry is set to play the title character of Emma in Blair’s “The Mystery of Emma Thorn”—a new mystery/drama about a woman who’s disappeared, and the husband and son left to unravel how and why. The beloved wife and mother Lowry plays is seen entirely in flashbacks as the story of where she’s gone is slowly revealed, bit by bit. It is Blair’s third feature and his first, working with Lowry.

“It’s a bit of a dream come true,” Blair says. “Lynn and I met at a film festival many years ago and have wanted to work together ever since. We’ve kept in touch over the years, but no project has ever come to fruition that brought us together. This film is finally going to make that happen, so we’re both really excited.”

In the film, Lynn’s character Emma Thorn has gone missing. Her husband Ari and adult son Casper work with a police detective to try to find her. But the circumstances under which Emma left are puzzling. And Casper suspects Ari is haunted by something more than his wife’s absence. Bit by bit, the truth comes out, leading to a heartbreaking discovery.

Lynn was captivated by the script. “It’s lovely and sad and beautifully poignant,” she says. “I told Gregory I wanted to play Emma the minute I read it.” Lynn has had a decades-long career, playing roles in films by Romero, Cronenberg, Schrader and more. So, she knows something about the long game. “It’s taken over ten years for Gregory to find the right project for me, but I think it was worth the wait. And I think audiences are going to think so, too.”

“It’s a dark film in a lot of ways,” Blair says. “It’s an emotional journey about loss, love and the causes and costs of lies. The role of Emma is like this bright spot of color and joy. I’m not entirely sure when exactly it happened—because I rarely think of actors when I’m writing—but I suddenly saw Lynn’s face as Emma, and I knew it was a perfect match.”

The Mystery of Emma Thorn will be produced by Pix/See Productions and is currently slated to begin filming in 2024. A crowdfunding campaign is set to launch on Indiegogo this July.
