New EU Scientific Report 2023 – Confident Use of Potassium Alum Stone

A new study conducted in March 2023 by the EU’s SCCS has just confirmed the safety of several cosmetic ingredients, including alum stone.

BERNE, SWITZERLAND, July 12, 2023/EINPresswire.com/ — The Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety (SCCS), in its recent final report dated March 21, 2023, evaluated 30 authorized cosmetic ingredients. Among these 30 ingredients, 25 are synthetic and only 5 are natural. It was found that synthetic ingredients contain relatively high proportions of aluminum, while natural ingredients have the lowest concentrations or insignificant levels.

Pure potassium alum stone is one of the 3 natural products that contain a very low proportion of aluminum, not exceeding 5.1%. Not only is this proportion very low, but it has also been discovered that pure potassium alum stone cannot penetrate the skin due to its larger molecule. It is also important to note that the alum stone must be dissolved in water before applying it to the skin, further reducing the concentration at application. Therefore, this natural ingredient presents an insignificant concentration of 0.5% at application. That is why it is sometimes referred to as alum stone without aluminum, or almost.
